Hi all,
I have an issue that maybe you guys can help me with. I have a 1995 XJ SE with the NP231 transfer case. My speedometer is not working. The speed sensor is in my transfer case, but the connecting plug/wire is missing. I can not for the life of me find this part. I have been to 3 different junk yards, and have had no luck. I have been to the Jeep dealer, no luck. I have looked on line, no luck. Ordered a plug and pig tail that the seller said would fit, it doesn't. This thing is elusive. I need to get it smog checked and it's throwing a code so the check engine light is on...so that is stopping the smog check from happening. Is this plug part of an entire harness? If not, where does the other end plug into? Does anybody have one I can buy? Pictures would be helpful.

I believe it is the two prong type, I will have to check. The ones in the link you shared look just like the one I ordered that didn't fit.

Oh, so...I am going to need to buy both the sensor and plug...got it. I was just trying to replace the wire and leave the actual sensor in the transfer case. I feel kinda stupid, but any idea where the pigtails go? To what harness?

Does your transmission shift properly? The AW4 TCU (at least on my'87) figures out when to shift based on that sensor. I remember the speed sensor plugged into the transmission not the transfer case. Maybe look at the post by ccken:
