Speed sensor issue
I have a 88 Cherokee 4.0L inline 6 cyl. 4WD. The problems is that I'm not having any speed readings at the cluster and my transmission (automatic) it's not shifting, it only takes first gear and reverse. I was looking at it since everybody tells me that if the speed sensor is damaged the A/T won't shift. I went under my car and it seems that the speed is marked at the cluster through a cable. That's no surprise since is an old car, but it also has a sensor just near where the cable engages with the transmission. It's that the speed sensor that everybody is talking about? I have been searching in the web atleast for a picture, but no luck.
Please help, anyone?

... if you unplug the "thick" wire that connects to the tranny and put a volt meter on there while its jacked up have someone spin the back wheels and if you get voltage then that is not your problem if you dont get votage your spedo sensor is bad
