ive had platinum plugs in my jeep for about a year now, and never had them fall apart on me, i dont know why platinum spark plugs would do that in the jeeps, its not like we have the newer ford truck engines, cause that does happen in those

I'm confused. what you talking about? Did someone say something about plugs falling apart? I didn't see it unless they deleted it. CONFUSION

Mostly, a pick up in mpg or performance isn't due to the kind of plug. It's due to the fact you are replacing a worn plug with a new plug. Claiming otherwise is pretty rediculous.

I recommend champions.

hmmm, so i had my champions, then i put ngk, then went to e3 and noticed the gain then? ngk were new, didn't gain anything, e3 were new and gained. Don't tell me it's RIDICULOUS (with an I) when it happened. not with just my JEEP, my 02 camaro, hyundai sonata, jeep patriot. jeep patriot was brand new off the line, buddy of mine, had 2k miles, put the e3 in it and got 4 mpg better out of that motor (4 cylinder), that a hell of a big difference. so yeah. real world experience here

What exactly makes these plugs different?

I'm sorry, I still dont believe your log was due to the type of plug. A lot if things can change mpg, driving style is the most common.

And why would you switch plugs 3 times anyways? Story sounds like nonsence. But go ahead and defend your magic plugs

for sure fixed quite a few of those ford spark plugs that brake off in the cylinder head...as for the plugs nothing is wrong w/ platinum and should cause no such damage....i just like oem parts

Well I finally got them all changed out. #6 sucked the big one! especially in 17 degree weather. But I didn't even have to sit down in the car to realize that it was running better. Now it could be the E3 brand, or it can be the fact that close to all of my plugs were fouled... And I'll comment back if I see an up in MPG. It'll be hard to tell though because my odometer doesn't work...

Are these really any better? Your paying almost double, does MPG increase enough to offset it?

I would think the plug quality by brand would have more of an effect on the durability than the style. Not to hard to swap out copper for platinum cores

After wrenching on Jeeps for 38 years, I have seen no evidence or actual data that indicates that anything more than plain old Champion coppers for the 4.0

The exception is the 00-01, where the NGK plug actually performs better with the coil pack distributorless ignition.

I've got an '01- would you recommend then that I go with the NGK or the E3's?
