Default Spark Plugs

Hey so I have never changed my plugs on my cherokee and Ive had it for about 5 years. what is the overall lifespan of spark plugs and should I change them out soon? I know how and I should check for corrosion soon. I was just wondering if you had any preferences to brand

also gap spacing?

I run Champion plugs in both of my 4.0s. Have tried others and it just never ran as good as the Champions. Also gapped to factory reccomendation of .035".

In my years of replacing spark plugs I found that the generic ones often worked the best (autolite, NGK, Champion, etc.) in stock situations for any rig. If you do make an upgrade dont waste your money on the fancy plugs other then the iridium ones which are the best but cost a ton of cash. I only put those in when I have a rig that I never want to change spark plugs in again for a long time.....like ones hard to get too.

i went with champion copper plus. i seriously doubt that you're gonna see a performance increase with just plugs anyway. a fresh tune-up is a performance increase enough. my two cents.

yep, so I just went and got a new starter with lifetime warranty!

and I got new plugs. I pulled 3 out and they were nasty!!! atleast 3mm of bright red discoloration build up on them.

and then I messed up. I pulled the wire out of one of my distributor cables trying to free it. I got 3 out fine and the first fith and sixth are dificult, is there a tool to help pull those rubber plugs?

can I buy just one distributor cable or is it a set and how mucho?

pliers. grab it by the root of the insulation booth, not the tip. twist it SLIGHTLY to break it free.

In all the jeeps I've had, they all liked autolites the best.... I run 3924's. A tiny bit colder then the truck and stock plugs, I just run the .35 gap.....

I believe there's a special set of pliers just for spark plug wire boots. But, I'd just go to AutoZone (or, whatever else in your area), and get the house brand, Duralast in AZ's case. They are 7mm wires, and for my 4-banger I paid $12 (including the coil wire), so yours shouldn't run more than $16. I prefer platinums, solely for the fact that they last longer. Coppers are good for 30k-40k miles, and they need to be gapped (I think it was .037" for mine), so, yeah, it's just laziness on my part. I used to stick with Autolites, but I tried Boschs now, and after 5k miles, they seem decent.
