Why are you running 111 octane racing gas in a mostly stock Cherokee?

Keep that 111 octane stuff away from your 4.0L or you will burn a hole in the top of your pistons. That engine runs fine on 87-89 octane fuel and if you want to turn it into a racing vehicle then you have the wrong truck.

I have a feeling that 111 octane gas is what's causing the spark plug problems.

Your wasting money running 111 in your jeep. Period..........the comon sence thing to do would be take away the race gas and see if the problem goes away.......

Dude I have no idea what you are trying to say. I'm not the greatest speller either but I know how to use the spell check and a dictionary. AS for your problem running a car for along time with high octane and then taking it away is like trying to take crack away from a a crack head! s**T is going to hit the fan. What everyone is trying to tell you is that is the reason your plugs are turning to ash.

So before I read this I just got some bosch platinum plugs.. not the plus 4s.. just standard bosch platinums. Is there any reason i should pull them out now and grab a set of good old champs? or are they as good for whatever reason? i really dont know. My XJ is mostly stock. I do have 19# mustang injectors and re done the cooling system to a 93 open cooling system in my 88 ... let me know before I go wheeling and realize they are my problem...

Are the bosch plugs known to have issues with the 4 .0 litre? or is that just heresay?
