Would the neutral safety switch cause the button on the side of the shift lever to stick, cause it doesn't want to push in sometimes or most of the time. My guess is no, I have yet another problem....oh my gosh! I have only had this rid for like 5 days now and its giving me heck!

Quick off topic question: is it very hard to clean the neutral safety switch, and does it take a bit of time?
I had a cj3b wish I hadn't sold it
the Tcase on the newer jeeps are way different

I had to post your truck this is bad ***

no but it may be a simple fix

get in the driver seat key on but don't start foot on break
pull the shifter back to first gear and pull up on the T **** it should pop off there it a plastic mechanism that slides inside you may need a new one

I was wondering how to get that thing off. I am proud of the ******. Its mostly a show truck now. I do use the 4wheel drive in it sometimes for the snow or sand but just to peeder around a bit. Thanks for the compliment!

Well I realigned my shifter thanks to bowtie's help, but now I've got a vacuum leak. I'm beginning to think the solution is send in a couple toy soldiers with "shoot to kill" orders to get that damn gremlin that's jumping around in my jeep. So now I've gotta go find that damn leak. It seems to sound like it's coming from everywhere.

HaHaHa, too funny, I must have the twin of that gremlin. I wish this stuff would happen when its not snowing or raining. I had to back out the cherokee to do some painting in the garage since its the only warm spot out of the house. This means I get to work on it later today.

Damn gremlin. The real crap part is I can't seem to isolate what line it's on. Heater controls work fine, 4x4 still engages...ugh.

Default Fixed!

Fixed is a very hopeful word but I believe the correct one. Since I have got the jeep running again I have been using the 4 wheel drive on it daily. I took the advice of driving around in "Full Time" and it seems to have fixed the problem. It engages every time, but doesn't disengage unless I shift to neutral and then back to drive, but I can go through all the ranges just fine now. The light works perfect now when in each gear like its suppose to. The Transmission problem....well um yeah, theres this thing called a brake. You must push down on it to shift into gear. HAHAHA Cant blame me much. I have never owned anything newer then 1973, this stuff doesnt exist on datsuns ya know.
