Theres a sound comeing from the right wheel when im driving, it is quiet until about 15 miles per hour than gets loud enough to hear inside, at around 25 you can hear it out side and around 35+ it sounds like my wheels going to come off!

Any ideas? ugh this Jeep is going to be the death of me! no kidding..


Also, when I hit the breaks like im going to stop it stops making that sound no matter how fast im driving.

 

Im no mechannic.. but I know the U joints can get loud if theyre in bad shape. What is the Noise>? I could also be a brake issue as well... I think you have to describe "said" sound so we can tell what it is.. there are too many variables. Thanks!

 

It doesnt sound like metal on metal... my friends stood outside and i drove by at about 20 and they said it was coming from the right sound,

its a Pop Pop Pop at 15 POP POP POP (fast) at 25 a it gets faster as i drive faster.. maybe the bearings in the ujoints?

U Joints are cheap and not too difficult, could it be anything else? my breaks works wonderful.. i also have a slight whistle sound but that has been there about 2/3 months. Its just weird that it stops when i hit the breaks?

 

wheel bearings maybe possibly something wrong with the caliper i had a caliper crack and it did something similar and didnt entirely break but just cracked and caused a popping sound

 

Did it effect your breaking power or anything else?

Any idea how to test out these? obviously inspecting the caliper.. but the u-joint?

 

usually u-joints will squeak when they are shot. to inspect them just put ur jeep on a lift and feel for play in the joint.

 

Did you jack that wheel off the ground and check for play in the U-joint or wheel bearing?

 

X2 Thats a u-joint or a wheel hub issue im pretty sure.

My lug's were loose so the tire was falling off.. if you ever hear a large THUMP from the tire it means its trying to rip itself off the jeep!

hah 4 new tires and no more noise.. (for now)
