Default Somethings leaking what is it ?

Went into town to get food, came back, and when I went to sit down I noticed a small puddle starting to build up under the car.

It looked like water but is kind of oily. Moved the car into the grass and put some cardboard under it, washed off the driveway.

I can hear pressure leaking out of the container pictured below. I can't touch it though, as it was much to hot.

thats the pressure bottle for you radiator, its cracked or has a bad cap.You will need to replace most likely both of them, and while your at it flush your cooling system looks nasty,it should be green not rust colored.

Hmm actually there is a screw missing on it, and when you cover up the whole the leaking sound goes away.

I'll also flush it then.

since you need to replace it, i would suggest switching to an open cooling system system rather than your closed system.

And the oily/rust colored coolant might be a sign of a bad head gasket...

How much did the tank cost ? I don't really have money to buy an open cooling if its more costly than just replacing the tank.

And yea all the fluid inside completed leaked out.

I got the tank for 122.00 plus shipping,if you do the conversion you need a radiator, over flow bottle, and a heater control valve out of a 91 or newer.

I'll just have to buy a new tank then. I don't have money for the conversion.

Link to the one you bought ?

the mac's tank is a good upgrade if you are not converting to open.

the stock bottle at the dealership is quite expensive. IIRC $60/bottle $30/cap

and by the time you can upgrade, the new OEM bottle will be toast and no resale value. Someone will always buy the macs bottle!
(btw.. any renix owner has gone threw this!)

Well my parents feel as though they are going to find that part at a local store, which I told them won't.

They say if not the store will just order the part in which I told them it will probably cost 2x more. They don't want to listen though.
