Default Something sliding back on take off

Hello All,

I have a 99 jeep cherokee 4.0 4x4.

When I take off from a dead stop, It feels like something is sliding back a bit.. Its hard to describe.. It almost feels like a broken motor mount kinda sorta but it is not, as my motor mounts are new, 2 motor mounts and tranny mount ....

If I punch it from a stop it feels like the rearend is kicking back a bit.. I am gonna try to hunt it down next weekend so I am trying to get some ideas as to what it might be...

Any suggestions are welcome..

Thanks guys,

Ant...

Mine does not do it all the time either but most like yours..
I just put a new 3" rough country lift with full leafs..
I had this issue b-4 the lift went in tho.. I was hoping that my issue would go away when lift was installed but no go..
So I am thinking maybe the rear drive shaft is sliding back I am not sure yet, But I will find it...

that's odd. with new leafs I wouldn't expect it to have the same prob as mine. mine is 17 year old stock stuff. good luck mang, sounds like you'll need it.

I had a similar problem with my 99. Someone on here told me to grease my slip yoke where the rear drive shaft comes out of the transfer case. There is a rubber boot that you can pop off and smear a little grease in there and put the boot back in place. It is a simple and quick fix. Mine did the shifting thing a couple more times after I greased it and once that grease was worked in, it stopped.

someone with more knowledge about what I am talking about might chime in and correct me if I spewed some incorrect terminology here.

Hope this helps.
