this is the thread i looked at when i did mine. its pretty easy, getting the switch out is no problem but getting the new one in is a little difficult because you cant see what you're doing so you gotta feel around
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/dim...removal-12665/

and the switch should be around $30

This may be a coincedince but I had the jeep in the garage lights on and the fuse didn't pop get about 5 minutes down the road then it does. I also remember hearing that hitch wires could cause this how would I check this

So I replaced the switch and it still blows the fuse. But get this even with the fuse out if I pull the switch just a cinnemeter out I mean hardly at all the dash lights and running lights come on. But not the headlights. Anything more then just a hair and they all turn off. Really need some responses guy's

sounds like a break in a wire, or poor connection. pull the switch again and check the voltage when you complete the circuit and try different variations to see what happens

Incase anyone is following this. I found the problem. The wires that run from the rear light into the quarter then come out under the lower portion of the back seat. Three of these wires were cut. A black one. White ond and black with green stripe. Fixed this and now all is good
