My mechanic thinks so -- mine rattled and he tossed it

Everything is "optional" on a Jeep. Just look at my Jeep.....some schmuck put 20" rims on the thing.....although I did get $500 out of them. The heat shield is just that. If you are in an area with a high fire alert, just be careful about dragging the exhaust on dry leaves..... They can be a nuisance and soon go away on my vehicles when they start making noise. Although, I should add that my cat mysteriously disappeared shortly after I bought it!
