you got it, and also why i ran mine just inside to the cowl. You really don't need it to be that high anyways. Are you ever going to have water up to your windshield? Probably not, and if so you'll more issues than just hydrolock...

I don't even think they make pressure tubing in 2 1/2, do they? Only DWV, or am I backwards?

they do but it's more uncommon. Any plumbing supply store should be able to get what you need. You could use DWV also without issue

I would suggest not using DWV as its no where near as strong.

I used to work for an industrial supplier, we handled copper, steel, pvc, and all the fittings for them.

My dad is still the president of his division, but I've been outta that game for almost 10 years now, so its hard to remember some things.

I'll get it from him, I'll get a discount.

That's a pretty sweet set up you got. An is it just an open tube or do you have a filter on it or anything? Is the tube pointing up or just straight toward you?

Fact or fiction. You lose/ have to relocate your windshield washer tank to run most popular snorkels?

You should make your own snorkel. That's what I did. I made mine for about $75.00 bucks.

Depends on the year of the XJ. If memory serves correct, anything past 1997, yes you must re-locate.

Damn, I bought my eBay ARB knockoff for that much, plus shipping of course. Looks good though.

I have been running a safari snorkel for four years now in the pacific northwest. We get more rain in one month than alot of places see in a year. Never had a problem with water getting in at highway speeds or any other speeds. And I have checked. My thoughts on getting one were I could get a cold air intake or a snorkel for a little more. With the safari snorkel you get the benefits of cold air intake as well as high air intake. Best of both worlds. And slightly better gas milage.

I have had it up to my wipers with my safari snorkel...... These XJ's like to float. All my vent lines are up to top of firewall so only problem i had was distributor got wet. Dried it off and away I went

the tube does not point up inside the cowl. It doesn't really even extend into the cowl - maybe 1/4" - it's just an open hole.

And there's no filter in the tubes. The airbox uses the stock air filter. I am just taking the air from the cowl rather than from the front of the truck where water likes to splash about.

Not if you have all your drain plugs removed.
