you could do like im doing. get 3 inch lift leafs and put shackles on them for 4-5 inches of lift then get some re 5.5 springs. they will compress down to about 5 inches of lift then run some 33s. id regear if you go with 33s but its cheaper to do it all the first time rather than keep re doing it.

i agree w/ Diesel.
when i first lifted my DD XJ i got rough country's 3" lift kit with replacement tubular lower control arms that were beefy. i sourced Procomp's 2.5 soft ride leaf packs out back with 1.5" greasable shackles for a kushy ride. but i still had issues clearing 30x9.5 inch front tires on some of the rocky trails out here in AZ.(stock rubicon moab edition wheels with 245-75-16 goodyear MTR's)
6 months later i ponied up for a 5.5" long arm kit from Rubicon Express. after seat time driving/wheeling both kits i gotta say long arm is the way to go. it is MUCH more smooth and stable when wheeling and handles way better when cornering on the highway. so if you're considering saving for 4.5" why not save a little more and treat yourself to long arms?
i saw a teraflex 4" longarm kit for $650 online + i know a wrangler guy who has this kit and raves about it.
the local offroad supply store told me RE's bushing dilemna was due to "a bad batch" from their 1st run and that their bushings are improved nowadays.. i've had the same set of control arm bushings over a year now (15k miles) no signs of cracking yet.

nope, I was really suprised too. I don't have quick disconnects and was carrying wrenches with me to the trail. Well decided to not hook em back up in the rain and drove home, couldn't even tell. My buddy's 3" lift has alot more body roll than my 4.5". I mean it's still a lifted truck but it really doesn't lean hardly at all.

That's what my buddy has, the 3" rough country lift. It's pretty soft. I have no complaints with my 4.5", it flexes great and does everything I ask it to do.
