Default A Small Surprise After Re-Paint

Sent our "spare" daily driver '92 Cherokee two-wheel drive down for a "bread and butter" repaint in the original Colorado Red. The clear coat has been peeling off and it looked pretty ragged. This morning stopped by to find the vehicle already painted, but in the later "Flame Red" color. Whose the dumbass? Isn't there a paint code affixed to the body somewhere or other? Thank you.

Looks like a free paint job to me.

Haha Yeah, free paint job does sound about right unless you are dead set on the Colorado Red. The Colorado Red does look good but you'll probably get used to and like the Flame Red just fine once all the tape is off and all the parts/wheels are back on.

Or they insist on spraying again with the right color since it's still all taped and masked.

You took the Jeep to get painted at a place who painted it outdoors and really expect them to know the different shades of red? This is one of those, you get what you paid for, moments.

Also, maybe I'm looking at it wrong but did they paint the black door handles red too?

Right, the roof of the "spray booth" is shedding a bunch or crap, so now vehicles are painted in the shop (this takes place in Baja California Sur, Mexico, by the way). They taped over the door handles. This town has practically been taken over by Jeep Cherokees brought in from the USA (although I have been seeing more and more Ford Explorers lately).

This has to be a joke. Hahaha. I almost put "and the shop looks like something out of Mexico" n my last post but didn't have much to go on in the pictures and have no idea why I thought that. Turns out I was right haha or as they might put in Mexico jajaja.

Hopefully they did not spray US enviromental crap paint, you know, the water based junk that has the peeling clear coat. I got cars painted 30 years ago with the old paint, daily drivers, still look great. Yet I have seen new cars with peeling clear coat in less than 10 years. clear coat is junk. the whole concept of clear coat is dumb. clear has no pigment, pigment is what is so good as a U.V. blocker. the U.V. destroys the clear coat. then the whole shabang is shot, and car needs sanding and repaint. I hate the new paint, total junk, crap.
I have to drive across two counties to get semi good pint for my car, but they are only allowed to sell it by the quart. It aint near as good as the paint you could buy by the gallon in my county 25 years ago.
