When I turn left or right it sounds like a small dog is trapped in my from end and barking. Any ideas as to what that could be? Thanks!

Datsun or a shih tzu maybe?
Is it a metal on metal sound? brake rotor dust shield
Could be sticking caliper dragging on brakes.
Could be a wheel bearing.
Need more info on the sound and symptoms.

I just replaced the wheel bearings about 4 months ago. It does not sound like metal on metal. More like rubber on rubber or like a small barking sound. I made sure the dust shields were positioned properly when I did the bearings. Would a power steering pump make a sound like this? I always thought the PS pump would make more of a squealing/shrieking noise...
I will look into the sticky caliper idea though. i have had problems with that. sometimes I hear a squeaking sound while driving slowly and when I gently step on the brakes it stops but that is a different sound.

Because you said turning I went immediately to ball joints or u joints. Most likely u joints IF it's one of those two but I would grease ALL the zerks you can find on the front end.
A good idea would be to Jack up one of the front tires after turning full lock and spin it. Also just having a buddy turn the wheel while your under it listening would be good.
Best of luck to ya, parter!

When you did the wheel bearings did you check the axle ujoints? When turned sharp there is more of a bind on them. When I did my wheel bearings I found one side was shot, replaced both though.

Coach, you nailed it. Sorry for the long delay on the reply. It was the axel u-joint on the driver side. i had already replaced the hub assembly on the pax side so I went ahead and replaced the hub assembly along with the u-joint on the driver side. No more sound!! However now I am wishing I had replaced the u-joint on the pax side when I did the hub assembly...live and learn.
