Slipping and grinding on take-off?
Hey guys my jeeps done this for a while but after my last wheeling trip it seems to have gotten a lot worse.
When ever I really hit the gas from a stand still I hear some kind of groaning/clunky rubbing noise like somethings trying to grab but can't and get some vibration. The jeep will move forward while this is happening but it doesn't have the acceleration it should have. This will also happen when I'm moving if I really mash the pedal down like to get on a freeway but not nearly as bad. It gets worse as the jeep warms up.
It feels like it's coming from the trans/t-case area. Trans shifts fine and t-case is working perfectly. The jeeps an auto and I have the 242 T-case.
A pic of my last trip for your enjoyment!

The fluid level is good and it's still pink. It was serviced maybe 15000 ago.
The thing is is that it's done this to some extent for years now, before and after I serviced the trans. When It was in they checked it out and didn't find anything wrong.

did you have you TC inspected also, how are you motor and tranny mounts? When I bought mine I had gone through and replaced alot of stuff, one of witch was the TPS.After that was replaced it shifted better and faster.I don't know where your grinding would be coming from maybe rear end.How many miles are on the Jeep?

149,000. It's not really grinding like when you miss a shift in a manual just a rough sound with some vibration.

I had the same kind of noise just after lifting my jeep 3". The cure was dropping the crossmember for the transfer case about a half an inch which made the drive shaft angle better. If you are higher than three inches you may need up to a 1" drop.

Here's something I forgot to mention: I lifted it several months age and drove without a t-case drop for a while and just dealt with the minor vibs I was getting around 30mph. During this time the problem I'm talking about almost completely stopped. After doing the T-case drop the problem at hand came back although all the driveline vibs at 30mph stopped.
