Default Slight problem here....

So.... I think I have a problem. Haha. My ride has been crap for a few days now and I just chalked it up to bad shocks (which they are) but I got the courage to look underneath just now 'cause I couldn't take it anymore and I found that my spring were straight across. My question is, how do I fix that? Just pop the rear end in the air, fix the angle and tighten the bolts, or is it more complicated than that. Oh by the way, this is my first Jeep and I'm still relatively new at working on cars, so go easy on me. Thanks.

Those don't look too bad yet. They're nearly flat from the factory, flat springs ride better than those with an arch. When you start to see a reverse curve just behind the front mounts....they're shot, lol. Might measure your ride height to see if the rear is sagging.
The biggest influence on ride on mine, outside choice of shocks was tire pressure!

You have a case of old wore out XJ springs.
New/used ones or overload spring(s), but good shocks very important.

Huh. I don't know then... My tires are aired up to spec. Could the shocks really cause such a bad ride? It feels like the tires are loose it's so bad. But the tires are on tight enough, it doesn't feel like the bearings, and it just started a few days ago. So I don't know. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

If this is a recent development, like since you went out playing or snow/ice/mud you may have some crud in/on your wheels.

I haven't gotten into the mud in a while and no snow. Maybe some dirt settled in there? Also, if it were the springs, could driving on then cause permanent damage to anything else?

This is up to you, but if somethings broken it should be found.

I completely agree with you! But for now at least, I won't have time to. My next day off is Tuesday and this is my only vehicle. Just hoping it can make it 'till then.

Your springs are not that bad. I have seen much worse. Check you tires and see if they have ant bulges or flat spots. If not you can rotate your tires and see if the problem move from the rear to the front. It could be something as simple as a tire is out of balance.

Since you said you're new to this, what PSI is that? The one on the sticker in the door jamb or the one on the side of the tire?
