Default Skips,bucks,won't run-ideas?

I'm driving home tonight doing 65mph on the highway and my 91 XJ 4.0 auto just quits. I coast and pull over.Try to start it, runs good for 2 seconds, starts skipping, poping, backfireing,no power at all, then dies.I repeated this for 1.5 miles just to get off the interstate. Allmost got hit by trackter trailer. Not a fun time.Towed it home and replaced crank position senser. No go. Replaced computer-no go.Plugs, cap, rotor, wires I did last year so they should be good.Fuel pump/sending unit where done 2 years ago along w/fuel filter. It almost seems like it jumped time.Any ideas?????
This is the first time in the 2 years of owning this that it has let me down. It has always ran great. And no, it's not out of gas

Well,I changed coil, distributor, throttle body-no good. I heard of some people getting bad gasoline in my area. Pulled off gas filter and it doesn't smell like gas should. So tomorrow out comes the tank and the pleasure of cleaning it out. Oh joy I hope this cures it.

Pull the fuel pump out and check the rubber line that comes off pump and goes to hard line, sometimes they come loose, or rot out.
Mine was doing the same thing yours is and that is what it was.
