Default Skid Plates

Kinda new to the XJ world but to my understanding, if I wanted to add skid plates for cheap I would need to look for a Cherokee with the Country package? Am I right? If not please correct me.

The "up-country" package came with them.
I have the Up country sticker on my 98 XJ and Def have the 1"-2" lift but I dont recall seeing any skid plates on my, Im thinking since I am the 3rd-4th owner of a 13 y.o. vehicle that may be the reason. I also will be checking again in the sun light this afternoon.

The skid plate package was an option. It could be added or deleted from any trim level. You may find a base model with no other options on it in the junkyard with a full skid package, or you could find a fully optioned Up Country with no skids.

Found a skid plate on my gas tank but I think that's about it. There is supposed to be one on the front but looks as if some one had a brush guard mounted then cut it off at the mounts instead of just unbolting it, tards.

My '98 has the big alternator, skid plate package, rear window de-fogger and zero additional options.

One way is take your VIN number to the dealer and have the build data printed. Another way is to check the info listed on the alternator.
