Default skid plate & front hitch/hook mount

Have any of you ever bought this? http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IROR&Product_C ode=IR-XTHM&Category_Code=PFX

Would it be possible to use the stock Jeep XJ front skid plate with this product? I have already notched the skid to accept an existing bull bar-pics are attached (I would remove the bull bar if I bought the above product as I know I can't keep that too).

What about a front hitch? I know from the install instructions on websites it always says "return front skid, if equipped, to customer". But I think my notches would help?

Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't buy that. I'd rathe get a front hitch and put tow hooks on the side of that. Oh wait that's what I have! But I wouldn't buy a plain bar like that.

Heard back from them & sounds like I would have to cut the skid quite a bit, add new metal, bend then weld it & then drill the brand new piece!

Agreed the front hitch does seem to be the more versatile option, could use a winch plate etc, & for pretty much the same price as the iron rock piece.

Has anyone used/modified their skid with a front hitch? Anyone at all?

Mine don't have that skid plate but shouldn't be to hard. Get the hitch and stuff first. And then put it on. And just cut the skid to make it fit.

Will do-thanks for the feedback. Yours looks good what brand did you go with?

I already have a d-ring hitch insert for my rear hitch, so I am part way there.

My d ring hitch sucks... Haha it looks cheap haven't used it yet but it needs something. And it came with the jeep. I think its from rustys tho.
I'll look it up here soon and try and find it.
