Hey I have a 93 and every once in a while I'm cruzing at 55 or 65 and the jeep kinda feels like its going to die. It happens in a spilt second then goes away.
The check engine was coming on. (but never when I was near the shop) but I replace the O2 sensor last week and it seemed to be running good. It's kinda scary but i've gotten used to it. All the fluids are good and its not leaking. Once when it happened the lights were on and all the gauges moved, It happens very quick. The wires to the battery look good.

Luis my local mechanic tells me I need to have the check engine light on

Any ideas ?

Does the check engine light flash at you or come on constantly?

It doesn't come on at all since the O2 sensor was replaced. Before it would stay on

My 98 XJ was doing the same thing when the CPS was going out. It did that for about 6 months. At times it would run great then other time it would do it contently. I waited to long on mine one day it crapped out and left me stranded.

I have been dealing with same problem on my 90 which is alittle different then yours. I have read on one post that the TPS fixed their problem. Several posts on here about this, try and start with the TPS then CPS.

Well it wasn't the TPS. It's was replaced and it shuddered this morning. At the shop now and nothing shows on the computer. Maybe this CPS? Crankshaft sensor?

I hate to hear that buddy. I was hoping that would fix yours. Like I said, I have been dealing with mine for 6 months. So unfortunately I can't say "this" is going to fix it. Mine is a 90 renix and I can test all my sensors. I think, some one correct me if I'm wrong, you can do the same. Yes, test your CPS (crank positioning sensor). Some people have cleaned the plug and got it fixed. Others it didn't pass the test.
