Shreeking belt noise first thing in the morning

Not the way to start off my day.

Tightened the belt until I could hear bearings and it would not shut-up!
Tried to use some belt dressing without success.
Pulled the belt off to check for a bad accessory. All the pulleys spun freely.

Tossed off the Gaterback belt and switched to a Gates full rib. No more noise!

Inspection of the gaterback showed that the pulley rib peaks were bottoming out on the belt. Belt was about a year old

i have the full rib belt and i get a little squellin only with the defrost on, not the vebnt or heat, just the defrost. still scratchin my head on that one.

Tighten your belt. I had the exact same issue. Tightened it up just s little and no more squealing

Yep, snug the belt up just a tick....when defrost is selected, a/c compressor engages placing extra drag on the belt.

sounds good guys. i have 1/2 delecftion now and can turn the belt 90 degrees (the 2 general rules i was taught). sound like a hair more on the tensioner screw and i'll be good.
