should roll smooth in neutral right???
Hey Guys,
just curious how your jeeps are when in neutral. I noticed the other day that mine would not really roll. I checked my brakes, e-brake and all is good. Nothing is sticking.
I am completely stumped.
I tested my Nissan titan and it rolls with ease down my driveway. My jeep needs to be pushed.
is this a characteristic of the jeep? (i dont remember if my 96 was like this). If not, if you have any suggestions of what to check let me know.
(checked my tranny and gears and all is good)
Thanks!

I can just about push/move mine on flat smooth ground. Same with my last one.
Jack each corner up and check you haven't a sticky caliper to be 100% sure.

Pressure is good.
I'll have to jack it up and check each wheel but I just had Goodyear do all my rotors caps pads brake lines calipers. Hopefully its a sticky caliper

E-break check: how far can you move it? how soon does it feel tight? if you cant move it at all, then its too tight, a couple three inches is a good place for it to start grabbing. get the tires off the ground and see what happens when you spin each tire independently. see if there is resistance at the tires. could be low dif oil?

I have a slightly dragging front caliper and it does the same as yours. I haven't had the time to rebuild or replace it yet. Could be the piston or the slides causing the problem.
On a level surface, block all four wheels. Than jack them up one at a time and see which is dragging.
May not be possible if you have lockers or LSD diffs.

oh i thought you meant underneath... the e-brake lifts up and than catches. probably half way up so its definitely not tight.
i just changed the differentials oil about 200 miles ago. no leaks either.
i just had a complete 4 wheel brake job done at goodyear. I mean everything was suppose to be changed. i will jack the jeep and check each wheel independently and go from there.
thanks

had that in 2wd. I will try it in N as well. However, if it rolls smooth in when transfer case is in N does that mean something is wrong?
(i have the 4 part time and 4 full time 4wd)
