I have a 1998 jeep cherokee that needs some work that i want to sell to get another cherokee or some sort of a good daily driver. I found this one cherokee that i got interested in and i called the guy and he said he would be interested in trading. He asked me how much i would throw on top of my cherokee but i responded with a i dont know. If you guys could help me out that would be great. Heres his description:

looks like a cool trade.
just a few things come to mind.
what kind of lift? is there lift blocks under the rear springs?
how many miles?
other than that, depending what he would take it looks like its ok, even so there are many parts on there.

I talked to him and talked him down to $3500 and we got to this deal. Me giving him my jeep and 2000 bucks.
Also he said that it doesnt have long arms but it has adjustable arms. That a big difference?

Yeah big difference between long arms and adjustable short arms. I'd pass personally. You jeep is a newer model and there has to be a reason he wants to get rid of it if he's willing to trade for yours..
plus for the 2 grand he wants from you, you could probably fix all yer problems and lift it with new tires and rims and have some left over if you do it right... something to consider...man i wish i had 2 large to put into my xj! good luck and let us know what you decide...

im sorry but your an idiot, this guy is hosen you straight up lifted jeeps are worth less then stock ones, lifted=off-roading=beat to crap. plus that thing aint even built right short arm 7" lift omg. im not saying that you dont know aything about jeeps, but it seems to me your either lazy or you have no mechanical skills, because you have the money and a perfectly stable jeep to build on but you would rather trade for a beater trail rig. if you were on pirate 4x4 you would be gettin it bad, but we are cherokee forum and we are nice so, all im saying is dont do it, and have a good day.
I guess it all depends on what is wrong with ur jeep!! If you need a new engine or are having SERIOUS mechanical issues it might be worth it. You can pick up a broken down 1998 Jeep on craigslists for around a grand. If ur jeep just needs minor stuff I would fix it and then do the work your self. If you were closer I would help you fi urs so that this guy doesn't take advantage of you!!

Well my jeep needs a bit of work done to it. Needs some things to be aligned and the fender and hood and header panel all need painted and put on. Hoods already on but i need a bumper as well. I dont really have the time to do it myself since i have to work alot and have school to concentrate on. Guy wants my jeep and 1500 bucks now. But if you guys say to just let it fly by then i will. Ill trust you guys to help me get on the right track.
If you already have the body panels then slap them on and get an alignment- that is an afternoon of work not a summer project or anything. Worry about paint later, it's just going to get scratched up if you use it right anyway/ :-)
