What retaining bolt?? you mean the center pin??? How is removing the center pin supposed to give you more flex?? Other than that its dangerous... That pin keeps your pack correctly centered on the spring pad.
Axles will be a Dana 30 up front and either a Dana 35 or a Dana 44 in the rear.

Well that thing also keeps the leafs together, if it wasn't there the leafs would be able to separate as the axle drops and maybe, just maybe a leetle beet of flexin', ya?
Or not. maybe the pack will just fly apart the next time you hit the gas real hard and get some axle wrap.

on the spring alignment clamps. Keep the "U" shaped alignment bracket but get rid of the screw or pin or whatever is across the top on yours. This way it keeps your leaves aligned and will still net you a little more flex.

that may cause damage to the spring
by over flexing the top leaf
it is there for a reason
in the old days you could buy them way longer to get flex but the leafs did not last

Do what you can to get more flex out of your springs. You will have much more fun on the trail that way. If you bend or break a leaf spring, well, it was time to get new ones anyway.

from the picture, your shackle looks like it is straight up and down. that means you will have very little droop, but lots of tuck. screwing around with the leaf packs aint gonna help.
