well just got done putting new hardlines on the xj cause the old ones was very rusty. and when i went to bleed the brakes i had a leak from one of the lines going into the mastercylinder. so i wind up cutting the line and reflaring and it still leaks so i try a little plumberstape and it still leaks so i try some more plumberstape and finally no leak! so me and my buddy bleed the brakes and take it for a drive and it is stoping fine. so should i be good to go?

NO! Teflon tape on your brake lines is the same as putting a band aid on a gunshot wound!!!!!! Pull it back apart and figure out what is causing the line to leak. It's easy to cross thread the brass fittings and end up not being able to compress the flare enough to seal the line properly. It's also easy to split the DOUBLE FLARE while working on the line. I'm not yelling, just reminding you that brake lines need to be double flared and if you have not done so --this could be your problem... Take your time , rushing thru any brake work is unlikely to reward your time and effort.

well whatever that thing underneath the mastercylinder that all the lines screw into is called i guess i need a new one? i checked autozone.com and couldnt find one. could i just get one from a junkyard? i honestly dont think its gonna leak now cause i took it down my backroad that no other cars drive on and repeatedly hit the brakes hard and no leaks but i would rather be on the safe side. HELP!

If you are talking about the proportioning valve you can get it from the dealer or junk yard

x2 on not using teflon tape to seal flare fittings. It is dangerous because the threads of the fitting don't do the sealing, the fitting pushes the flare on the tube into the seat. As mentioned above, replace whatever you have stripped.
