Shocks...
Hey guys,
I'm going to need some shocks but I don't want to keep buying them over and over. If you know what I mean.
The XJ has a 3.5 to 4" lift.
I'm wanting something that will let the XJ run similar to my KTM, in that I can take it at 50MPH (at least) and worry much about pot holes, etc in the dirt roads.
So I need something with great dampening but not to stiffen up a ride.
Suggestions?

Do you hear banjos?
Motorcycle vs. Jeep...motorcycles are designed for that abuse, and Jeeps are not. It would take quite a bit of modification to make your Jeep stay together for any length of time driving it like that. You would have to do it pre-runner style, if you know what I mean. Large expensive long travel shocks, HD steering, suspension, long arms, stronger axles and housings uni-body reinforcement...tons of work and cash!! Ride your KTM when you feel the need for speed, and drive your Jeep over anything....slowly.

Yea, I know it won't be easy or cheap.

Been done though right.
Guess you could say its some inspiration, but a person has to start somewhere. Right.

Wowzer...
WEll, it seems I found my own answers.
FabTech Dirt Logic 2.0 or 2.25 Shocks is the premiere answer.
At about $200 each, they're anything but cheap.
Then we get to add hydraulic bump stops to the front and rear, at about $1600 for a set of 4. Then the fabrication needed to basically rebuild the frame of the XJ by welding plate over it all.
Time to back track and and move one step at a time.
Get everything 100% perfect as can be done, then move forward with a 5 to 6" lift and SYE, then at the same time beef the frame up. Then the diffs will be addressed and move forward from there.
Big time project. I guess the name The Money Pitt will be appropriate.
