Default Shock Length

Ok so Im not the best at knowing the right parts to do custom things. I have the RC 6.5" lift and want to add another 2". Now the shocks that come with the kit do not allow for alot of drop. When I add the extra 2" The shocks will be very close to max and only a little travel. I want to get some longer shocks but do not want to spend alot of money. I do not need thim for a great ride b/c I dont drive it far and its more like a toy. So any cheap suggestions on shocks that I could get that can handle 8.5" and more travel.
Thanks
Frankie

This reminds me of a HUGE lift I saw on a truck once. I can't remember what kind of truck but it was a regular pickup fullsize like an F350. Well I live in an area where I see LOTS of lifted trucks, pretty big and this is by far the biggest lift I have ever seen. It almost qualified as a monster truck. It had to be a good 4 feet in the air or more.

Not sure what this has to do with you needed longer shocks but someone has to make them. Skyjacker maybe?

well i'll offer my assistance. for reference im running 12" strokes(18" collapsed, 30" extended) with my 6.5 lift. so for a base i would add the 2" to those and go shopping around.

try measuring yours, then cross ref, with some of these from summit offroad, there about the cheepest your going to get, unless you can fine some at a pick/pull yard that are the length, that will work for your application.

If your shocks are not extended all the way, then you really don't need to change them. The unweighted droop gains you nothing in traction.

its not that they are not extended all the way it more that they do not compress even close to all the way. Almost as if RC doesnt use a long enough shock. I know i dont want the to compress all the way b/c of bottoming them out but I still have like 4 or some inches to go when I get it as far compressed as I can get it.
