when i am driving and i hit a pot hole or a bump on the high way my jeep starts to shake and buck what could be the cause

You have the dreaded "death wobble."

Very common problem, and it has been discussed many many times. Probably too many times.

Use the search button and look for "death wobble."

Just about anything in your front end could be causing it. Ball joints, tie rod ends, worn trac bar, bushings, etc.

Just do some searching and check your front end.

ok thanks could the steering dampener be bad?

last time I had the death wobble I replaced all the bushings and ball joints and sway bar bushings, steering was a dream after that and no more death wobble.

yes it is, it will happen when your not expecting it and give ya a little panic pucker,lol.

If they have been redone recently you might just get under there and grab and shake things to find the exact culprit, but if it has been awhile I would just go ahead and replace it all, you won't believe how much difference it will make.

yeah the first time it happened i about **** my pants but i am going to have to a whole front end repair and it should be good i hope
