I have a 91 xj that dont like to crank if not in a particular spot in the park position. I have to put it in park then slightly pull it back to where i can see alittle piece of white where to "p" is on my shifter . Any idea what could cause that.

 

Sounds like your nss is starting to act up. This usually happens when they get grimed up, and is easily fixed by taking it off and giving it a good cleaning.

Nuetral Safety Switch if you arent in park or neural, it wont let the engine crank. Explains why you have to hold your shifter in a certain position.

 

this might mess with your reverse lights too i think.
