So I got a code pop up wich is po758, I tested all the solenoid and they are all good, the code will randomly turn off and everything will run normal. and I had a buddy look at it and he said theres a short to power, so there might beva problem some were in wiring. I had a similar problem with a o2 sensor and it turns out there was a short some were in the wiring harness, anyone have any thoughts on this? Also any one have a wiring lay out I could look at because I rlly have no idea were to start looking

The wiring from the trans goes to a grey 7 pin connector near the trans dipstick. The female end goes to the trans and the male end to the trans control unit. The middle pin of the (3) is ground the 3/4 on the other row are to the solenoids. The ground is provided by the TCU, so will appear open towards the trans. The solenoids should show 12-18 ohms resistance, S1 and S2 are shift solenoids and S3 is for lockup.
The only way to test the wiring to the trans for short and continuity is to drop the pan and unplug from the solenoids. The solenoids can also be tested directly with the pan down so as to eliminate them as variables.
My S1 went out gradually, and I never got a CEL or code (1996 OBD2). 1997 used a later, different TCU that needs to be programmed by the dealer, or so I'm told.
Other factors are the throttle position sensor, vehicle speed sensor(s), and brake pedal switch. The TPS and VSS send signals to the TCU. The brake pedal switch unlocks the lockup when activated.
Have you noticed any odd shifting?
I have the AW4 manual and AW4 troubleshooting manuals on my PC if you want or need them. I'll have to send them as attachments to email, so you'll need to PM me your email address if you do want them.

While you had the pan down you should have tested the wires that go to the 7 pin at the dipstick.

It worked ok sor a while, and then I realized that it wouldn't downshift from 3-2-1. What was actually happening is that it would never electronically shift into 2nd. The S1 solenoid was bad, and the trans works great since I've replaced it.

I think it is unless you can find a short in the wiring from the TCU to the trans. PM me your emal address and I'll attach the AW4 troubleshooting manual.
