Shift Solenoid??
Reading a check engine light code for My Transmission Shift Solenoid B.
Need to change it out but Im confused?
Im looking at RockAuto for the parts I need and I cant figure what I need to change this thing? Is it a "Control Solenoid" or is it the "Kickdown Solenoid"
What else will I need when replacing the Solenoid?

There's A340E/F solenoid kits out there that will work in your AW4.

Out of my league here. I think on the right, rear of the dipstick there are some wiring junctions. Might be the black one is for the NSS and the lighter colored is for the transmission. Was me I'd check those connections, blast it with some CRC electrical cleaner, and get under there and take a really good look at the wiring. See that nothing is rubbing, chafed, burnt or broken. Lot's of stuff turns out to be wiring and connections.
The AW4 has three solenoids. I'm so cheap, I myself might only change the bad one, but I think it's advised to change all three if you are going there anyway. I haven't done it, but I gather the hard part is the stupid dipstick tube! (#1 and 2 are the "control", #3 is the lockup)
Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.....Edit, OH! there you go! ^

The thing is though I have no idea which one is which from that site? Or where I can get them from for cheap. Ive contacted local auto parts stores and looking at 200-300$ for only one of them..

The dipstick tube on an XJ is one of the stupidest designs I've ever seen for any part on any vehicle. Who thought up the idea to have the tube enter the side of the pan??? And what genius looked at the proposal and said..Hey that's a great idea!

Also, here's some good info on checking the resistance of the solenoid circuits to help eliminate other possible problems. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/doe...-legit-195669/

Ha! , You forgot to copy my part about checking the wiring also!
I did save the link to this thread. Everybodys contributions to the diagnosing, buying and changing the solenoids, all in one place, (sort of).

Somewhere along the line Chrysler dropped P0758 and lists only P0756 in their diagnostics manual.
P0756 is a mechanical fault with solenoid B. Stuck off (maybe).
P0758 is and electrical fault in the solenoid B circuit.
P0756-SOLENOID B FUNCTIONAL FAULT
When Monitored: Continually while the vehicle is at high vehicle speeds and higher engine load conditions.
Set Condition: The gear ratio is incorrect for the current gear requested.

Remove the dipstick FIRST!
