Default Shift Kit?

Is there a shift kit available for our transmissions? Driving the jeep makes me want to punch whoever planned the shift points.

Have you ever adjusted the TV cable at your throttle body?

I don't know the year of your Cherokee since you don't indicate that, but if it's an 87 to 90 the TPS is adjustable and could be bad. That would affect shift points. On later Cherokees than that, the TPS will affect shift points also, but they're not adjustable.

It's a 91 cherokee. I adjusted the tv cable today and it shifts like butter now, can barely feel the 1-2 shift at 1/3 throttle, still wish it would shift a little earlier in the rpm band to use up all that lowend torque but it'll work.

Ive heard of ppl shimming the accumulators in aw4's but never seen it. They are the same tranny that are in some Toyotas. Not just low end torque but also a flatter then "normal" torque curve. Id say don't touch it, well atleast it would be at the end of the performance mod list. Mostly because performance mods help the higher end of both torque and power curves.

All i know is its amazing. I like the way mine shifts. When i punch it feels great. When i don't its smooth and efficient. Its in alot of cars and trucks and its bullet proof.

Glad that helped. I'd leave it alone at this point. Do you have the Power/Comfort switch in your dash? If so, put it in comfort if you want earlier shifts. Personally, I hate that setting but you may like it.
