Shift Gate Swap (231 to 242) Question

Got my parts today for the swap...question for you guys. The 242 shift gate I was sent is simply the metal piece. Is that it? Some I've seen also had plastic inserts as guides.
Just was expecting something a tad more "complex" for the 5 selections versus something that looks like a straight line, stepped over once to another straight line.
