1992 cherokee 4.0 dialy driver. new starter tests good. just rebuild the nss backup lights now work. wont crank. i have power at th main post on the starter but when i turn the key nothing happens you can here the fuel pump come on but thats it. no solinoid click or anything

 

ignition switch maybe?

 

thats what im thinkin but i dont kno how to check into it. any ideas

 

Mine, after taking it out, look burnt and the plastic was all wavy. If it doesnt look messed up smell it. Most of the time if it is bad you will be able to smell burnt plastic. There is also a rod that moves the connection points that your key turns, this rod could have come loose and is now not engaging the starting point on the switch.

 

ok found it. kinda its a ground issue. when i ground the startes to the body wit a jumper cable it fires up. so i am trying to figure out where the motor grounds to the body. any pointers
