Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
Just sharing the latest XJ Ive got. Got it for a deal, but needs some work. Also has the 2.8L V6 with 226,000 miles. Any advise to keep the 2.8 alive? Sounds great for its age.
A 2 door and freaking turbines. Lucky. Still looking for me a set of turbines. Of course cracking my front windshield today set back the search anyway.
Yep! I want to restore it. Ordering every little piece that is broken, detailing the inside, might bed line rear bumper because even after a full repaint in factory color, it'll be scratched up.
It came with a snow plow (who plows with 135hp new?) It sat for 20 years in a barn and I got it for 1k from the guy who found it. He redid fuel lines and all plugs, wires and distributor, the 2 barrel carb puts along great. Hit 70mph on the highway with no OD. 207 Tcase works great, power doors and windows work. Put new 235s on it. Has upcountry kit, full engine, t case and gas tank skid plates. Want to go over the motor. Gets antique plates soon hopefully.
Engine: 4.3L with headers and full 3" exhaust system
I have one that will help. When the miles pile up, I start using Power Punch engine additive in the oil. It is a high pressure lubrication additive. Helps the seals and bearings last longer. Also you will want to use the gear oil additive in your D35 rear end to reduce wear there.
Good luck finding a hidden winch bumper. We all want one. I've never even seen one. I've also never seen anybody on the forum with one. Everybody just posts the same few pictures like you did. I've seen that picture before haha.
Jeep should have made more of these Jeeps with the factory hidden winch bumper. And 2wd should be have been where 99% of XJ's sit, but all 4wd should have came with the upcountry 1" lift.
Yall have been awesome as always, thank you. I want to keep this stock even with the 2.8. It did come with what I think is the upcountry package. Sits well with 235/75r15s and has all the skids. The bumper will be a long search I'm guessing.
