Default shaking when starting to move

Hello all,

A little help needed. When I go to take off, especially in reverse or 2nd gear, my jeep is shaking really bad like the drive shaft is out of balance or something. But new u-joints on it last year but put over 100 miles a day on it.

Anyone have any suggestions if is the u-joints or something to do with the rear end? Any help or comments appreciated.

Thanks.

Is it a 5 speed manual tranny? More details might help.

Not the drive shaft. Shaking would increase with speed. Check the trans mount. JMO

Sorry about the lack of info. Here is a little bit more...

Best way to describe the shaking is similar to trying to take off in fourth gear.

Seems to be coming from the mid to rear of the jeep.

Has just recently started doing it- about a month or so ago and is getting worse.

I used to be able to take off from second (especially if not at a complete stop) but not now due to the shaking- reverse and first gear doing it now, but not as extreme but is slowly getting worse.

Sounds like Trans Mount or loose rear U-Bolts

Sounds like the clutch to me... How many miles on the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing?

Clutch components all replaced about 2 years ago. Clutch not slipping at all but that may not mean much.

im going to agree on the mounts and bolts, the clutch would be noticabley acting up over some time before it would crap out, not in every case, but mostly. i would check tranny mount and rear u bolts if i were in your position. especially since you said from mid to rear of the jeep.

I'd take the inspection plate off and take a look at the clutch to rule it out. I had a 1976 toyota Landcruiser that I got stock, brutalized the clutch to get out and it shuddered after that until I replaced it. When I removed the inspection cover I found pieces broke off the clutch floating around in there... I think I also spilled my beer while doing this... Offroad on private property of course.
