I am trying to take my shackle off from the frame and when I turn the bolt with my breaker bar it is making a popping noise. I don't want to keep turning if this is bad. Please let me know if this is normal or something is about to break?
Thanks got one bolt out now the driver side bolt is giving me issues. I got it about 1/4 the way out and it is still stuck close to the frame and only spins now. any pointers?
Its full of corrosion, you'll have to break that up before the bolt will come out. Best way I know is to drill a pilot hole through the rubber into the center pin and keep filling it with PB Blaster, let the corrosion break up naturally.

Explain 'only spins now'. Does this mean you can turn the bolt and it doesn't come out?
If so, you may have broke the weld nut loose in the frame rail.
Put a pair of Visegrips on the bolt about 3/8" away from the chassis. Use a pry bar against the chassis and pry the Visegrips away from the chassis, pushing the bolt out as you turn it back and forth..
No. He just probably needs to take the weight off that bolt. As in just lit that tire up a little at a time so the holes line up. The shackle is trying to push up against the frame rails. Or he may need to jack the other side to drop this side

Good catch things slide in and out easier when the holes line up

and now that i zoomed in the on the pic, that shackles has to come down so OP, get your man hands on and pull down on the shackles or use a pry bar eight above it and it should slide right out
Thanks guys. I dont think i need to cut the bolt off just yet. It seems the thread are stuck inside the shackle. I plan on today putting visegrips and hitting it with a hammer or using a pry bar. The holes are lined up and I have taken the weight off the leaf springs. The shackle moves freely since it is loose on the frame side.
I had a front eye bolt stick on me like that. I had another loose bolt, and used that to gauge how far out the stuck bolt was. Turns out it was out of the frame but the threads had hung up inside the eye. I ended up sawing the bolt off just outside the mounting box, than with a hammer and punch, knocked it in enough to clear the outside of the mounting box. The spring dropped right out than.
