Servicing the rear diff need a little help

Re the rubber plug in the rear diff (compared to the threaded plug at the front) - does this just pull out? I need to check my rear diff oil but don't want to break the plug off!

If you want to be really, really, really sure of not leaking, you could just add a small bead of silicone sealant to the rubber plug before you put it in.But, if the plug is bad enough that you fear losing gear oil, just replace it cuz you shouldn't need to use anything on it for a tight seal.

Also, since you've got at least 25,000 miles between lube changes, consider using dino gear lube as the cost of synthetic is triple. I spent $32 changing my manual tranny and both diffs with dino - synthetic woulda cost $104!
