Angry Serious electrical issues.

I've got a 2000 Cherokee sport. 4-door with the 4.0L 6cyl. I've had it since June, and I love it to death.

But lately it's been giving me some serious headaches. Just got done replacing the front and rear brakes and the alternator, and thought for a second I was done getting it worked on.

But my stereo started shutting off intermittently, followed by my heater blower not turning off when I shut the car off.

AND THEN.

Any time I try to turn on my headlights, it activates the starter, whether the engine is running or not. If I pull the switch out to the first notch it's fine. Marker lights are fine, and my turn signals are fine, but as soon as the headlights are on the starter is going.

I've had the issue since I bought the car that I can't turn off the headlights without the key in and in the run position. The passenger side front window switch is also off-and-on in function and has been since I aquired her. The horn is also currently disconnected, as it sometimes randomly goes off.

I know the previous owner (certified idiot according to his wife and family and volunteer firefighter) Had a lightbar, siren, and CB radio/scanner installed, and removed it before he sold the car to me, and I've been thinking this could be the source of the issue, as I'm not seeing it like I see the famous Grand Cherokee issues.

If any of you Cherokee enthusiasts might have ANY idea at all what could be going on with my baby I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

take a look and find out if all the wiring from the p./o is taken out and make sure its not shorting out... if he just ripped stuff out you may have a live wire shorting out somewhere under the hood and thats not good

x2. Also check under the driver side dash and by the the fuse panel. Chances are something was directly wired from the fuse box and a wire was either left or the fuse box was altered.

Cool, thanks for the tips guys. I'll be starting to check all this soon. Any more suggestions while we're at it?

Just curious does this have an aftermarket alarm or anything else like that installed?

Nope, all bone stock now. It used to have a lightbar, siren, and CB like said before but it was all taken out.
