So after work I pulled my jeep into the shop 88 cherokee Laredo 2 door 4.0 and replaced the water temp sensor as Kragen calls it for the guage. It worked also did cruiser54s iac cleaning and throttle body cleaning topped off washer fluid and coolant tightens cap and away I go. Got home turned it off and it started pissing coolant out of the cap agian !!!! I had this issue when I got it replaced the cap and thermo and it was fixed. I don't want to have to buy a new cap every time I removed it from the resivior. Any ideas ?

Replace the entire resivor..
My 88 did the same thing.. could never figure out WTF was going on.
Replaced my entire resivour bottle and alas..no more overheating, or leaking of coolant.

What happened was I had a hairline crack in the bottle, which would release pressure and cause the thing to overheat. Replaced the bottle (which came with a new cap) and never looked back.

Ok figures it out those napa and car quest caps are te same and crappy (IMO) I got a motor rad one from autozone an it fits and tightens way nicer than the others. I guess my system didn't bleed at all the other day. And the cap wouldn't hold pressure so I fill the resivior and put the new cap on and drive her she got hot about past 210 not to 260 parked her had dinner came out and topped it back off ad all was good now
