Default sell or service... rusted floor pans

IDK all the correct terminology, but here goes:

I would like to know if any of you think it's possible, worthwhile, or reasonable to mend rusted floor pans on the driver and passenger side of a 95 Cherokee SE straight six.

My understanding of the situation is this: the Cherokee is a 'uni-body' design and thus the task of cutting and welding in new sections to the frame is not easily accomplished and would require hours of disassemby, building a support frame... etc.

Why I believe that I need it fixed or that I should sell it: Pennsylvania will not pass a vehicle with holes in the floor and only some upholstery between the driver's feet and the road (it's not yet a big hole btw). If there were some way to get it passed, I might not be inquiring here.

Thanks for your time.

My '96 cherokee had a 3"x 10" hole in the passenger rear floor pan, a 2"X 5" hole in the driver front floorpan, a 2"x 6" hole in the passenger front floor pan, a 1"x 5" hole in the driver rear floor pan, and a 2"x 10" hole on both sides of the cargo area pan.

I replaced all 4 floorpans and the cargo area pan last fall. I welded in new pans. Took about 2 weeks, done during my spare time.

There are plenty of posts on this topic, some with photos and how-tos. Just search for RUSTED FLOOR PANS.

If you google "cherokee floor pan" you'll find lots replacement options.

just cut the rust out and weld a new piece of sheet metal in its place cover it up with some roofing tar or rino liner spray and you will be good

Thanks for the replies, fellas. without photographing the underside of my Jeep, I can assure you that if work is done, it's best to do the total overhaul of the pans in my case. Rust everywhere.

since I don't have a job, I suppose all I need is a torch and some more tools.

The one thing that concerned me is that two people told me I would need to build a frame around the Jeep to support it structurally while replacing these floor pans. That doesn't make sense to me at all, yet I have zero experience in auto body or an understanding of how to deal with a uni-body design in this case. Will this operation require something to prop up the body while replacing the pans?

I heard that too, but I replaced each panel one at a time, so I did not bother with the frame supports. I did the driver's front, driver's rear, passenger's front, passenger's rear, and cargo area pan, in that order. The frame supports would be theoretically important if you removed all the pans prior to doing any replacement. Without all the pans, there might theoretically be some sag in the frame rails (but I doubt it). I had no problems, and fit was perfect.
