Unhappy sell it or keep it

So i recently bought a 98 xj sport. For 1900 dollars only 163k on it. Straight 6 auto. And i drove it about 22miles from the guys house it over heats and will not start and i find out that coolent has formed a lake inside my intake. so i call the guy back he says he is sorry and all the stuff he is a jeep mechanic had like 4 of them just around his house like nice ones. He says he will fix it for free or atleast try to find out what the problem is.. so about 3 weeks later he puts a new head gasket, raidator, BRAND new head, water pump, thermostat replaced the manifold bolts and threw a new shock on it cause the one was broken. And he calls me up and says ive put so much time and money in to this just give me 500 dollars and we can call it even. The jeep has no problems now idles for ever no over heating issues and we told him to drive it to work the next couple days to see how it runs and he says it isent even going over 210 anymore. I was thinking since it has so many problems just sell it and buy a differnt jeep or is this one perfect cause most of the parts that can go wrong under the hood of these is allready new..

sounds good to me, as long as the rest of the vehicle is good. check out the fan mod, and open system mod and run it til it dies.

So wait... This guy sold you a XJ for $1900.00, took it back, fixed EVERYTHING FOR YOU, and only wants $500.00 for parts and labor...? Sounds like a decent guy to me..

Well since you've already spent that much on it and it seems to be running ok I'd keep driving it.

Ask for the $1900 back. I bet his quote of $500 slips back closer to free.

Yeah basically free and i asked him for the money back i paid cash and he said im not taking a broken jeep back. And he would fix it free (labor wise) i would just have to pay the parts. And yeah the man was a verry good man he worked at decans jeep as a mechanic he had his shirt on when he sold it to me. I dont doubt the guys mechanic ability.
