Then try finding a 56027865.

Mopar Wholesale Parts lists it as a 56027865AB, for the '05/'06 Wrangler w/4.0 engine.

Plug it part number 56027865 and Jeep.

Take a look at Rockauto. It shows an Airtex/Wells CPS, part number 5S1717 under the listing for 56027865AB. See if this looks like what you need.

Can you take a photo of your original CPS and the body harness connector on the intake manifold and post it here.

That one looks like the superceded part that the dealer gave me that I had to sand. I'll go get those pictures for you, give me like 15 minutes.

Here are the first 5 from in the engine bay. The CPS in there now is a mopar one for a 97.

EDIT: The shiny-ness you see is dielectric grease.

I have spark. My problem is finding a CPS for a 96 that fits correctly. Car runs perfect when it has the right sensor.

Are you in law enforcement?

You do know 96 was a transition year. My .02, if it works, run it, and save the Part #.

Not a LEO.

Yea I do, but the current sensor in there causes it to backfire around 3k RPM.

Because if I put in the original sensor it runs just fine but will randomly die and throws a CPS/CMP code.

I tried a Duralast CPS as a last ditch effort, and like I thought, it's junk. It started up, drove it to the gas station. Started it up at the gas station, started acting up. I'm pretty much done with this Jeep. I've put too much effort into it the last year. Dealer won't help me anymore, can't find the right part I need online, and all local shops have junk sensors.
