sans front drive line
I think I'm ok, but I want to check to be sure. I need to take a trip next weekend and my front driveline is going out. The stupid Rzeppa joint is a piece of crap with a lifted WJ. I'm going to order one from Carolina Driveline but it won't be here in time.
So, my TC is a SelectTrac II. (AWD/Netural/4WDLOW). Both my front and rear axles are open diff (FOR NOW!!!).
Am I going to be ok running with no front driveline for a few hundred freeway miles? OR will this cause wear on the TC>
I've redone my NP205 in my chevy and I understand that one, but this AWD stuff is new to me so I'm nervous about driving without a front driveline.
Thanks,
Hex

You run the risk of damaging the transfer case viscous coupler by running without the front shaft on older grand cherokees, not sure of the WJ transfer case.

Unless you have a 2-hi option on the transfer case, or some way to lock it in, I dont think it will work. Being an all wheel drive, I would think it would work very similar to full time 4 wheel drive, and either not move at all, or wear the clutches in the transfer case. If it's anything like the full time system GM used a while back (NP203 t-case, if youre familiar with GM stuff), it wont even move unless you can lock it in 4-hi or 2-hi.
