Default Same rim - different size tires???

Hey guys and gals just real quick I was wondering if I could fit 33x12.5x15 on my 15x8 wheels? Right now I got 31x10.5x15's and I dont want to buy new rims too once i wear the 31's down and get 33's (and all my stuff is mickey thompson if that helps figuring out if i can get different brand tires or something)

Simply...Yes you can...Although the wider rim is preferrable... The tires might seem to look a bit odd and they might be a lil nasty/difficult to mount

The last number on a tire size (Ex: 235/75R15) is the inner diameter of the tire. That is the same diameter as the wheel you must have. I think that answers your question.

honestly i was more worried about the width, being that I have a "normal setup" with the 10.5'' tire on 8'' wheels then upgrading to a 12.5'' on a 8'' wheel! still good? I just throught the bead would be more likely to roll/pop < whatever

If you're really worried about it, you may want to go up to a 10" wheel. The bead may be prone to popping if you air down at all.

The only width issue will prob be your LCA's and some other rubbing here and there... You could always do the WJ LCA swap, they got a little bend in them that could help the issue...

Allan,

Here's the scoop. If the wheels you have are after market 15x8, then you are golden with your 33x12.50x15 so long as the back spacing is 3.75" or less. If the 15x8 wheels you are refering to have more than 4.00 backspacing then you will need a wheel spacer. If the 15x8 wheels are your stock wheels that came on your XJ, then they are actually 15x7 and they will work with the bigger tires but you will need a 1.5" wheel spacer to keep them from rubbing on the inside. I hope this helps. Have you been enjoying all of this snow on the Rock? I have been.

If ya wanna wear them down, Put it in 2Hi, keep the front brakes locked and lay into the gas. Then rotate your tires and repeat...

Could also go way too far toe in, or just f**k up your tie rod, that'll wear them down fast

I would not run a 12.5 tire on a 8" rim
