Default same jeep, diffrent problem. bad shake in the frontend.

Ok, so I got a new fuel pump in my jeep and shortly after the front end develops a bad shake @50-60 mph. now I'm thinking tie-rod end but since this place has been a wealth of info i thought id check on the causes, thanks in advanced.

most of the time a shake/vibration at this speed is tire balence. but loose steering can also cause it. have the tires been balenced recently? is the shack in the floor/body? the steering wheel only? everything?

Could be a bad bushing up front like on the upper or lower control arms. Could be the front drive shaft. Could be a motor mount. Crawl under there and check all these things.

its 2wd, the whole thing is old but all things considered the bushings look ok. the jeep has 211,000 mi on it.

Until you figure this out, keep an extra pair of underwear on hand in case you soil yourself when it feels like your Jeep is dismantling itself.......!!!

Note: It can oftentimes be due to a combination of things!
--------------------------------------------------------

-Front tires out of balance (try swapping fronts to rear; see if symptoms change)
-Improper lug nut torque on wheels
-Front alignment out of spec
-Loose track bar
-Worn track bar bushings
-Worn track bar end
-Bad bushings/joints in control arms
-Worn/damaged steering stabilizer (not generally a cause in and by itself)
-Worn/damaged shocks
-Worn/damaged tie rod end
-Bad U Joint
-Bad ball joint
-Loose frame mount
-Steering box loose
-Bad front hub assembly

What kind of tires were they that gave you the problem?

uniroyals, the driverside was bad so i returned both and got goodyear wranglers. im sure it was a manufacture defect and nothing to do with the store itself, the goodyears remedied the problem and look alot beefier!
