Hey All, So i ran seafoam in the gas tank and now my temp gauge doesn't go above 150 what happend? It's a aftermarket gauge since I replaced the dummy gauge when I first got the Jeep. The aftermarket gauge worked fine until I ran the seafoam. Anybody know what's going on. Thanks

I think it just might be a fluke and the gauge just went bad the same day I put seafoam in it.. Cheapo from Advanced Auto. I'll get another one and check that. Thanks

you can seafoam the oil (crank case) so long as you change the oil within 300 miles afterward.
get rid of the crappy aftermarket gauge. junkyard trip, cluster, oil pressure and temp sender, done.

I'm telling YOU that seafoam has been around for a long time, and been used in crank cases with no ill effects for a long time.
the ill effects of sea foam are when some idiot just pours it in and doesn't do an oil change right away.

Wheres your evidence? Seafoam is petroleum based, that will sit on top of the oil and thats the first thing the pump is going to suck up. Your bearings will hate you and so will everything thats getting foam instead of oil.
yeah...the sump is not at the surface of the pan.
the crankshaft turns and churns up the surface of the oil, plus the oil does what gravity tells it to and mixes back on top of the oil, thus mixing the seafoam in.
pretty simple...although I do agree that it is something that should be run through and drained immediately.

yeah, I actually just went out and was looking at my torn apart 4.0 to verify that.
reguardless, the sump being located low means it sucks from the bottom. oil from the bottom gets pumped through the motor, and drains back on top, mixing fluids if you put seafoam in. you wouldn't ever suck ONLY seafoam.
