rusty brake and fuel lines

rusty brake and fuel lines
I recently had the steel brake line that feeds the rear brakes blow out from rust corrosion. I got lucky because it happened in my driveway. I replaced that line so all is good with the brakes now.
My question now is with the steel lines that are associated with the fuel system. I think the badly rusted ones are part of the evaporator system. The pressure line from the tank looks to be stainless steel and in perfect condition.
The rusty lines I'm worried about go into a little box that has a shield over it. Are these evaporator lines and what's the worst that could happen if I neglected fixing them? Fume leaks? Liquid gasoline leaks? Check engine lights?
