Default Rust on seat brackets

I've noticed on several of the 2ks, rust on the seat bracket that bolts to the floor. Common? Cause? Fix?

I just bought a 2000 that had a touch of rust on one leg. I was mounting an amp under the seat so I had it out anyway, but it's only four bolts bro. Pull it out, clean the rust, and paint it.

Thats most likely a sign that your floor boards are shot.Water comming from underneith and getting the carpet wet and causeing the brackets to rust.

OK so I look underneath the truck and cannot find *any* rust either on the driver or passenger side. The area where the seat bracket bolts to the floor, that bracket has the rust in question. Nowhere can I find rust on the underbody. What is making the rust....where does it come from?

I would guess wet feet getting in and out of the vehicle all it takes is a little moisture and maybe a little road salt and here comes the rust

Exactly. When I got my MJ I noticed the seat brackets were rusty. I pulled up the carpet to find a big hole in the floor.

It might not be that bad but I would pull up the carpet near the pedals and look. The rust may not have gone all the way through to the outside so you wont see it from underneath.

Very common, especially on East coast cars. Mine came from the east side and has it too. I painted over it for appearance sake.

Mine rusted , found out the door seal was leaking. New seal and cleaned and painted the brackets . No problem
