I just bought a 2000 that had a touch of rust on one leg. I was mounting an amp under the seat so I had it out anyway, but it's only four bolts bro. Pull it out, clean the rust, and paint it.

OK so I look underneath the truck and cannot find *any* rust either on the driver or passenger side. The area where the seat bracket bolts to the floor, that bracket has the rust in question. Nowhere can I find rust on the underbody. What is making the rust....where does it come from?

I would guess wet feet getting in and out of the vehicle all it takes is a little moisture and maybe a little road salt and here comes the rust

Exactly. When I got my MJ I noticed the seat brackets were rusty. I pulled up the carpet to find a big hole in the floor.
It might not be that bad but I would pull up the carpet near the pedals and look. The rust may not have gone all the way through to the outside so you wont see it from underneath.
